1. Overview & Data Controller
Welcome to LZ1ADJ.com, a personal technical blog operated by Nikolay Muntyanov (callsign: LZ1ADJ) based in Sofia, Bulgaria. This website is dedicated to sharing knowledge and research on amateur radio, RF power amplifiers, embedded electronics, and software engineering.
We respect your privacy and adhere strictly to data minimization principles. We only collect the minimal data necessary to deliver this website, monitor aggregate visitor traffic, and reply to your messages.
2. Information We Collect
A. Google Analytics (GA4):
We use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-7KY6WRHYXQ) to help us understand how visitors interact with the site, which technical articles are most popular, and to detect broken links or slow pages.
Google Analytics collects aggregated, pseudonymized metrics including your general geographical region, device and browser type, screen resolution, referral source, pages viewed, and session duration.
IP Anonymization: In Google Analytics 4, IP addresses are processed and anonymized by Google by default and are never stored in raw form. We do not enable advertising personalization, remarketing, or Google Signals.
B. Feedback & Contact Form:
When you voluntarily submit a message through the site's Feedback modal, we collect:
- Your email address (used solely to reply to your message).
- The message text you provide.
- The page URL where the feedback was initiated (so we know which article or project you are discussing).
- A timestamp and client IP address (to enforce rate limits and prevent automated spam abuse).
Delivery via Telegram: Submitted feedback is securely transmitted via HTTPS and forwarded to a private Telegram channel via the Telegram Bot API to notify the site owner. We never share, sell, or rent your email address or message contents to third parties or advertisers.
C. Server Access Logs:
Like nearly all web servers, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical connection logs (via Express/Morgan). These logs contain your IP address, HTTP request method, requested URL, response code, and browser User-Agent.
These logs are retained temporarily solely for security monitoring, preventing denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, enforcing API rate limits, and diagnosing technical faults.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your web browser:
- Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as
_gaand_ga_*) to distinguish unique users and throttle request rates. These expire automatically within 2 years. - No Advertising Cookies: We do not use any marketing cookies, third-party tracking pixels (e.g. Meta/Facebook Pixel), or commercial ad networks.
You can block or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings, or use browser extensions such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
4. Third-Party Services & Links
This website incorporates or links to the following external services:
- Google Fonts: Web typography (Inter and JetBrains Mono) is loaded from Google Fonts servers (
fonts.googleapis.com/fonts.gstatic.com). - Telegram Bot API: Used to deliver feedback messages to a private administrator chat.
- OpenStreetMap: The map on the LoRa link planner loads its tiles from
tile.openstreetmap.org, operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Your browser sends it your IP address, the map area you view and the address of this site (OSMF privacy policy). - Link planner calculations: The station coordinates and radio settings you enter are sent to our server only to calculate the link and are not stored. To get the terrain, our server (not your browser) downloads Copernicus elevation data from Amazon Web Services; no data about you is sent with it.
- External Links: Articles may link to external websites, GitHub repositories, LinkedIn, or the public Sofia WebSDR (
sdr-sofia.lz1adj.com). Clicking on external links subjects you to the privacy policies of those respective third-party destinations.
5. Data Retention & Security
All communications with LZ1ADJ.com are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Feedback messages are retained only for as long as necessary to communicate with you and are periodically pruned.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Request access to any personal data we hold about you (such as your submitted feedback).
- Request correction or complete deletion of your submitted messages and email.
- Object to the processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, please open the Feedback form in the header and submit your request.
